A vibrant community
The term of office for our existing Mendlesham Parish Councillors is about to come to an end, with the process for nominations and election for eligible residents who wish to stand for Mendlesham Parish Council about to commence . This is the opportunity for a democratic process to select those to represent you at a local level from 9 May 2023.
Please consider if you are able to stand. Do not assume that all existing Parish Councillors will stand. It is also essential that we have at least 8 Parish Councillors stand for election for the Parish Council to continue to qualify to use Power of Competence, which then enables, subject to those regulations, increased flexibility for the Parish Council to spend to support the Parish.
There will be information about the elections, including the new requirement for photo id to vote in person, available shortly via e News, Parish Notice Boards and the Mid Suffolk District Council or Electoral Commission web sites.
If you are interested and want to know more about the role of a Parish Councillor please join us 6.30pm-7.30pm Thursday 9 March at the Old School Room, Mendlesham for an informal discussion.
If you cannot make this event, please contact the Parish Clerk or any Parish Councillor.
