Mendlesham Community Centre (Registered charity number 304795)

Mendlesham Parish Council, sole trustee of Mendlesham Community Centre, invites any representations or comments in relation to an application to The Charity Commission for England and Wales to sell the Mendlesham Community Centre building and adjoining pavements by way of freehold transfer in a private sale to Suffolk County Council.

This is further to communications commencing 2020/2021 when Suffolk County Council approached the Charity with an offer to purchase their parts of the building to facilitate the Mendlesham Mulberry SEND Centre.

A consultation at the time, which due to Covid measures had to be held electronically, was supported by the majority of those who provided comments and agreed with the Trustee that this was a one-off opportunity to sell what had become a building in need of much investment, had no finances and was very costly to run. Sale was considered to provide the opportunity for a new community building, proposed to be located near to the Multi Use Games Area, the Wheeled Sports Area and nearby play equipment, which will be available for use both inside and outside school time and provide a modern, sustainable facility in an expanding Parish.

A consultation period will take place between Wednesday 1 February 2023 09:00 and Friday 31 March 2023 17:00 with public events scheduled to be held at Mendlesham Old School Room:

Friday 24 February 2023 16:00 to 19:00
Saturday 25 February 2023 09:30 to 12:00
Friday 10 March 2023 16:00 to 19:00
Saturday 11 March 2023 09:30 to 12:00

Further information in relation to the consultations and the process will be found during the consultation period on this web site and by updates posted to eNews, official notice boards and social media. Click here to subscribe to eNews.

Following the consultation period, a paper poll of Mendlesham residents, aged over 18, will be held at a public meeting in the Main Hall, Mendlesham Community Centre, Station Road, Mendlesham Tuesday 18 April 2023 at 19:00.

If you are unable to attend the above events, please forward any questions and comments with your name and address to the Parish Clerk
