A vibrant community
The Mendlesham Walking Group was created in 2010. Since then the group has been meeting regularly to enjoy good company and walk within the parish and surrounding areas. The walks are advertised in the Mendlesham Parish Magazine, subscribers of e-news and on the Facebook page "Spotted in Mendlesham".
In 2021, despite the challenges of the Pandemic, and with the help of Suffolk County Council and the Mendlesham Community Council, Mendlesham Parish joined the wide range of Discover Suffolk Leaflets. The leaflet provides facts and information about our villages as well as 3 walking routes of varying length.
Regular walks include short strolls of 1-2 miles and longer walks of 3-5 miles, at a slightly quicker pace. They start from the school car park, at 10.30am. Toilet facilities are limited but we do have access to the 50:50 Shop nearby, the local pub or church in the village. Walk leaders can provide further advice and assistance. On some occasions we may venture outside the parish, taking a short car journey and perhaps even ending at a nice pub for lunch!
We also offer encouragement and support for people who, for whatever reason, want to improve their health and fitness but can only do short walks. The Mendlesham Movers Health Walks are supported by One Life Suffolk. See https://onelifesuffolk.co.uk/our-services/health-walks where you can select and register a walk.
